Mommy fun

Daddy and I have to tell this story so that it's forever immortalized and we can look back on it in many years and giggle.

You know we got snow over the weekend right? And that it's stayed for a few days, right? Monday's are mommy's Winthrop Ensemble practices where I hang out with the Schillaci's while she toots her French horn for a few hours.

Mommy's horn case is one of those backpack style cases that she slings on her shoulders when walking around...remember that.

Apparently after practice while heading to mommy's car, mommy slipped on some ice. And as she tried getting back up she slipped again. On her back both times. She scraped her elbow and tore a hole in one of her socks (we're not sure how), but was able to get up and finally get situated.

She called daddy on her way to the gas station and to pick me up and when he answered the phone daddy said he could tell something wasn't quite right. Mommy got real emotional and scared daddy. She told him how she fell....twice and he said he figured she broke something, an arm or hand but was missing it because of an adrenaline rush or something.

Daddy said he was trying to calm her down and figure out what the next steps were when mommy told him she was fine, but it was her horn she was worried about. Daddy said it was all he could do to not drop the phone from guffawing so loud!

Very relieved at the whole thing, daddy talked mommy down and got her feeling a little bit better. Now he was just worried about how much it'd cost to fix her horn up, which could be expensive but much better than dealing with broken bones.

After we got home and they put me to bed, daddy said mommy opened up the horn case and looked at the damage and......

All was well! Not a single scratch or dent in the horn - can you believe that!

Wow.

And so because the end result was so good, daddy and I were able to write this post out and have a wee bit of fun at mommy's expense - we love you mommy!

Snow and ice

Wow, so we got snow Friday night and some ice on Saturday. A few inches of snow topped with ice so I couldn't grab any to throw at daddy. We tromped around a bit though and that was sort of fun.

Daddy's good friend from work is moving to Pennsylvania this coming week, so we tried to trek out Saturday evening to wish him bon voy-ag-gee and it was a trip.

Our neighbors up the street were sledding down the sheet of ice that is our street before we left and they took me for a quick ride on their sled - that was fun!

We made it up the hill and out of the Riverbend...slowly, but daddy got us out. The highway was a little better, but it was slow going.

I got to play with Mitch and Gabe again once we finally got to where we were going. I hadn't seen them in maybe a year and a half. They're a few months younger than me, but were taller than me, but that's okay because mommy brought trains for me to play with and I shared with them!

Later in the evening, mommy was looking at a tenor sax for Neal trying to fix it and she let me play it. That was fun, but I like playing brass better!

We made it home okay and Sunday the sun came out and melted the ice off the streets, so we got out to the grocery store and I got to sit in the driver's seat of the cart again - that's a lot of fun.

The week that was

Boy, what a week. On Monday Mommy finally went back to rehearsal with her Winthrop ensemble, so I got to see the Schillaci's again.

Then Tuesday, I hung out with the Connelly's and we tried to go see the circus animals parade through the town. It was chilly. And windy too. So we popped into a big building to wait, but the animals never came by. So we went home.

Wednesday, we went to go see the circus. That was fun. I really don't remember it from last year much, so it was neat to see all the animals again - the elephants, the tigers and even some doggies. The clowns were funny too. The double-barrel cannon was a little too loud though.

Speaking of loud, we stopped at Mert's Heart and Soul for dinner beforehand and while we were there the fire alarms went off. They were loud and we had to leave the building. But then they let us back in, but then the alarms went off again. But this time they let us stay in our seats.

But those alarms were loud, I didn't like it at all. I laid my head on daddy's arm and he covered my ears. I just didn't like all that noise, but finally they stopped.

Then today, Friday, it snowed again. I'm still not real sure what I think about it, other than it's cold, but everything's all covered in white outside.

Late January

This past weekend was a fun one in all sorts of ways. We went out again to 5 Guys for dinner on Saturday and we brought some of my trains with us too. After I connected them in a circle and played a while, I ended up eating all of my grilled cheese - a first!

Mommy and daddy didn't have anything to bring home for me - yay! Oh but let me tell you how we got to 5 Guys...

See, it's in the same place as Target and we went there first because mommy needed some prescriptions. After we checked out, instead of going back to daddy's car, he started walking with me to 5 Guys.

About halfway there, he let me walk all on my own. Of course, I held his hand the entire way and when we saw mommy drive by (in daddy's car no less...how goofy!) I started walking faster to go find her...still holding daddy's hand.

That was a bit of a workout, but we had fun.

On Sunday, daddy made a bunch of cookies and after he let me eat a couple, I got mommy to give me some more without daddy knowing...ain't it great to be a cutey-pie!

Check back later this week, I heard something about going to the circus.

2010, finally

Okay, new year, new posts...and I'm doing an awful job of keeping everyone current. Sorry 'bout that.

But great excuses, really. Really! I've been sick twice since December. Just before the holidays I got a cough that needed some medicine and then again right after New Year's day.

Just getting over that and I'm just about back to my normal bubbly self.

Oh and another excuse...too much fun playing with my trains!

I promise to try and do better with keeping the updates rolling - maybe mommy and daddy need to keep reminding me too.

Goodness!

Where'd the time go? Suddenly it's almost Thanksgiving, so many things I forgot to get on here and write about....my bad.

But we did update a bunch of photos, so click on the photo link on the right and check those out!

And hopefully, between Daddy and I we get back to some kind of regular schedule for keeping all my peeps updated with the world of Elliott.

Another catch-up

My last post was my surprise pre-birthday party up in Ohio. Later that week, mommy and daddy left me to go to some reunion thing and Grandpa Wise, Aunt Ellen and my cousin Hannah watched me for the night. Hannah was a lot fun, I liked playing around with her.

The next day we drove home and I spent most of the ride watching Mickey's Clubhouse or Handy Manny or Thomas the Engine, but somewhere close to West Virginia something didn't settle too well with me and I upchucked all over the place. Mommy and daddy had lots of fun cleaning that up, but I felt much better after that.

Last week was nothing extraordinary, mommy and I hung around the house and tried to get back into the swing of things.

Oh wait, I almost forgot....I got a new pair of shoes - the coolest pair ever! When I stamp my feet little lights blink on the shoes. How cool is that? All my friends at Chesterbrook were in awe of me, the attention was fantastic.

Then this past weekend, we went to a drive-in theater out in Belmont. Daddy put the seats up in the car and I had fun romping around during the first movie - G-Force. I didn't watch it too much because come on, who's really gonna believe that guinea pigs can be trained to be secret agents? I mean, come on, I like a good story as much as the next kid, but this was stretching it a bit!

I fell asleep before the next movie, but I heard mommy and daddy say it was Harry Potter (there's that name again). We got home real, real late and I slept in a long time on Sunday. Whew!

This week's already been eventful and it's only Wednesday. Mommy got a new job! She's going to a brand new school to start their music program and she seems really excited about it. But I guess it means I'll be going to a new school too, but I heard mommy say it'll be at the school that Sheila is in charge of! Sheila is an East band parent (go Travis!) who would watch me when I went to games and band competitions last year - she's a ton of fun!

We've got some pictures and a video or two, so I'll have to stay on daddy to get them uploaded....

Pre-birthday celebration

The Wiseguys in Hartville had a little celebration for me last night. Since it was a month before my birthday and they wouldn't be able to come celebrate with me, they threw a little soirree just for me!

It had this really neat ice cream cake which I liked a lot. Here's a video of me blowing out the candle (yes, I'm gonna be 2, but there was just 1 overly large candle to save space).

July 4th

We had a fun weekend for the 4th. The weather was great and we picked up Grandma and drove up to Tom & Mary Lou Connelly's to celebrate. The Knight family drove down from Virginia so I got to see my cousins Miles, Maisy and Olivia too.

Grandma said Grandpa (I call him Papa now) drove up earlier to start prepping the fireworks display, it's become a specialty of his.

Click the link below (or just go to my Pictures link on the right) for some photos from the afternoon. Including fireworks! I wasn't real sure what to think at first, but Papa did a great job with them, so I kept saying "Yay, Papa!"

It was real late after the fireworks, so we drove home and I was sacked out and slept in real late Sunday.

Even then I was still a little groggy this morning and I accidentally gashed Daddy's head with my teeth while playing around - sorry Daddy!

Sunday evening, Mommy left us to go to a 2-day conference in Durham...bye bye Mommy, we'll see you Tuesday!
