Earache

Last Wednesday I went back to school after all the snow. We had a fire alarm test in the morning and that was not a lot of fun for me. I didn't like it one bit. After I woke up from my nap, I was running a slight fever so I had to go home. When I got home though I felt fine and ran around, jumped all over Mommy and Daddy and all that good stuff.

Thursday Daddy took me to school a bit later in the morning and he promised me that there would not be another fire alarm. I asked Sheila when we got to Chesterbrook if there would be another fire alarm and she promised there wouldn't. I still wasn't so sure, but I decided if you can't trust adults, who can you trust?

But again after my nap, I woke up with a fever and they sent me home. I went to see Dr. Floberg Friday morning and he said my right ear had what looked like the early stages of an infection. They also gave me a flu shot since I hadn't gotten one yet. The nice nurse poked my leg which stung for a second, but she put a neat band-aid on it and I was fine.

So I'm taking my medication and doing much better. We had a good weekend with the snow mostly melting off. I got to go to Discovery Place Kids on Saturday and the Race Car Park on Sunday, that was fun, fun, fun! And best of all, no more fire alarms.

Snow days

Monday morning was chock full of snow, what a lovely sight! Although it wasn't great sledding snow, Daddy and I trekked through the woods and to the creek and threw some sticks into it where it was iced over. Coming out of the woods, Daddy tripped up the slope and we fell into a pile of snow and got all covered with the white stuff, that was funny!

After we got back inside, it started snowing big flakes of snow again, I think it snowed all day long actually, though later in the day it started to rain and that ended up putting a sheet of ice on top of the snow. Of course Mommy didn't have school Monday, or Tuesday and not really Wednesday either.

It's Christmas time

What a great Christmas we had...snow and everything!

Christmas Eve was fun, we drove down to Grandpa Schillaci's and I got to open their gifts and got some trains, some really neat trains including more GeoTrax stuff to go with what I already had.

When we got back home, Grammer and Grandpa Wise were at home, they drove down to hang out with us for the weekend. And Christmas day brought more toys - a robot, a remote-control car, a basketball hoop, clothes, Toy Story stuff including a big helicopter and on and on.

My elf, Neil, did exactly as he said and was gone on vacation Christmas morning. I had fun spotting him every day leading up to Christmas and can't wait to start seeing him again next year.

Then Christmas night it started snowing! In Charlotte! How about that?

So the next day, we went sledding down the side yard. I sat on daddy's lap to ride down and he pulled me back up afterwards. We had a lot of fun...until the sled fell apart. So we tried my old wading pool, that didn't work so great. Grandpa pulled out a cardboard box and we tried that too, but not so good, so we called it a day and went inside to get some hot chocolate!

Boy I like Christmas - I hope it comes around every year!

New Car

Last weekend, Mommy bought a new car. She's had her Civic since way before I was born....I can't even imagine what that's like.

We all went in Saturday afternoon and the sales guy, Corey, gave me a big green balloon. That was nice of him. They had a little children's area and Daddy and I stayed in there a long while. Then Mommy came by and Daddy left for a bit. Then he came back and Corey kept coming in with pieces of paper and asking Daddy this or that and talking about numbers. Lots of numbers.

After a while though they all seem to have a smile on their face, especially Mommy. Then things got real long. It seemed like we were there for days and days. I got restless and kept running around and getting squirmy. But eventually, we went into another man's office where he has this very tiny shopping cart that he let me play with. Mommy and Daddy signed more papers and then Daddy and I made a paper airplane out of one of them.

And then, we said goodbye to Mommy's old car and left in the new one. A dark blue Honda CR-V with a moonroof. It smells nice. And so far I like it.

Mommy's Band Concert

Last Tuesday was Mommy's band concert at Ridge Road Middle School. It was quite an adventure, mostly for Daddy, but me too.

Daddy picked me up and we went to McDonald's to get some food before the concert and to play in their playground. But I wasn't all that interested in the playground, I had a poopy diaper. But Daddy forgot the diaper bag at home. So we went off to the store to buy some diapers and by that time we had to head to Mommy's school to make it in time.

When we got to her school, there were cars everywhere. Daddy had to park real far away. Then he set about to change my diaper and that's when things got real interesting. It was everywhere. I think it took him 10-15 minutes to fully change me and at one point I was buck naked in the car! Oh, did I mention it was maybe 20 degrees outside and windy?

He wiped everything off as best he could, tucked my shirt into my pants so people couldn't see the stain and off we went to the concert. We stopped in the bathroom once we got inside, but there was no soap in the soap dispensers! Ick.

We had to stand outside the gym for the orchestra part of the concert because so many people were there already. The bleachers were full and a bunch of seats behind the band and orchestra were full too. In between the groups, Daddy took me to the corner where the bleachers stopped and we stood in the little alleyway because it gave us a good view of Mommy and the band.

Her bands played well. I got a little restless towards the end and I think Daddy was getting a little sore from holding me, but soon enough the concert was over and I got to run and run and run around the gym. Some of Mommy's students kept trying to get my attention, but I was shy again and kept running away.

Daddy and I did take the microphone back to Ms. Tanner (the wonderful Ridge Road principal) and she gave me a big smile. I like her.

Daddy kept chasing me around the gym to make sure my shirt stayed tucked in. I thought that was funny.

Finally we got to go home and I rode in Mommy's new car!

Grammer's Visit Part II

On Saturday afternoon Mommy went out to test drive a car and Grammer, Daddy and I went to a concert....to see a singing Christmas Tree! It was really neat. They sang a lot of fun songs, like Jingle Bell Rock and there were these 2 mice - Bree and Roquefort...get it? - that kept popping up trying to sing their own song. They gave out jingle bells to us kids too. It was a lot of fun.

Monday night was Mommy's Winthrop concert (again) and we drove down, in a hurry, to watch that. She played well as usual. I didn't run around on the stage much this around, but I still had a good time.

Before Grammer left, we put up our Christmas tree, I helped sort out the branches, but we couldn't find the tree topper.

Tuesday, Daddy drove Grammer back to Ohio, but before she left, she gave me a new Christmas ornament to put on the tree - Buzz and Woody flying, how cool is that!

Grammer's visit Part I

Grammer stayed with us for a week and a half. Last Sunday was her 70th birthday (wow, that's old...I'm only 3!). We had a lot of fun with her around. We went to the race car park and I ran and ran and ran around. We went to the mall and the indoor play area there where I ran and ran and ran around. Another day we met Grandma Connelly at the Art League for lunch, then we went to Discovery Place Kids and I ran and ran and ran around.

Then one night we drove down to the see the McAdenville Christmas lights. Daddy drove Grammer's car back from Ohio and it has a moon roof, so as we drove through the village, I stood on the arm rests and poked my head through the roof!

I saw Santa Claus on the sidewalk and told him, "Happy Christmas" and when cars on the other side of the road passed us I wished them a Merry Christmas too. There were lots and lots of lights.

Sunday, we tried to go see Santa at the mall, but the line was long. When we went back after Grammer's birthday dinner, the head elf was mean to us and wouldn't let us see Santa. That wasn't very nice, but I was okay with it because I got to run and run and run around the mall for a little while.

Thanksgiving

I had another fun Thanksgiving out at the Connelly cabin. My Great Grandpa Durley was there and my Great Uncle Todd and Camille (my Great Aunt Kathy was sick, but she's feeling much better now). We ate a lot of food and I played a lot with Camille.

After Thanksgiving we went to the racetrack to see the Christmas lights. That was loads of fun and on the infield, they had this thing set up where we could make our own wood race cars. That was a blast.

Daddy wasn't with us though, he drove up to Ohio to see Grammer and bring her back to Charlotte next week, so he missed the lights and we miss him, but the cabin was tons of fun!

Winthrop Concert

Mommy played her French horn with her Winthrop band this past Friday. Daddy and I sat in the back to watch and listen. I had a lollipop and waved it around sometimes like I was conducting. Or something.

I really like listening to Mommy play. But the best part if after the concert is over and Daddy takes me up to the stage. I got to run around the chairs and look at all the neat percussion instruments. Some of Mommy's former students were there and she talked with them for a while. And then Daddy and I saw Mr. Stamey from East Lincoln.

We hadn't seen him in a long time and even though I was pretty shy, it was fun to see him again.
