Snow and ice

Wow, so we got snow Friday night and some ice on Saturday. A few inches of snow topped with ice so I couldn't grab any to throw at daddy. We tromped around a bit though and that was sort of fun.

Daddy's good friend from work is moving to Pennsylvania this coming week, so we tried to trek out Saturday evening to wish him bon voy-ag-gee and it was a trip.

Our neighbors up the street were sledding down the sheet of ice that is our street before we left and they took me for a quick ride on their sled - that was fun!

We made it up the hill and out of the Riverbend...slowly, but daddy got us out. The highway was a little better, but it was slow going.

I got to play with Mitch and Gabe again once we finally got to where we were going. I hadn't seen them in maybe a year and a half. They're a few months younger than me, but were taller than me, but that's okay because mommy brought trains for me to play with and I shared with them!

Later in the evening, mommy was looking at a tenor sax for Neal trying to fix it and she let me play it. That was fun, but I like playing brass better!

We made it home okay and Sunday the sun came out and melted the ice off the streets, so we got out to the grocery store and I got to sit in the driver's seat of the cart again - that's a lot of fun.

Travelin' man

Okay so almost 2 weeks ago, we went driving up to Ohio to celebrate Grandpa Wise and Tate's birthdays. I remember nothing of the drive up, daddy tells me it was long and apparently I slept the entire way.

Grandpa Wise's house is pretty interesting, meaning enough floor space for me to scoot around. He had this stuff called carpet that I'm not used to, but I liked it...made it easier to get around.

My cousin Tate's 5th birthday was a whirlwind of activity and a lot of fun. He got a bunch of neat stuff...these birthday things sound like fun, I'll have one a month from now. (Note to all readers: 30 shopping days left until my birthday!)

Then we drove up to Concord to meet up with mommy's high school band director - Mr. Deep. He has a really neat house with a pool and big backyard and large doggie (I've never seen a doggie that big!).

Their family were great and even let me sit in the pool for a while which was a blast. The kids played hide and seek with me and I giggled my fool li'l head off.

When we drove back to Charlotte, we brought Grammer with me to stay for a few days. She was lots of fun too hanging out reading me books, going to Gymboree with me and even feeding me some chow. I was sad to see her go back to Columbus.

Boy what a busy week and that's not even the half of it....Mommy took me to the pool this week too - more on that later.

My First Band Competition (Part 2)

The thing is, now that I think about it, I never got to the competition! We left home to go out there, but somehow I ended up with Grandma and Grandpa Connelly.

Oh wait, that's right, they have a cabin on the lake out that way, so after all that driving which was great because it gave me some really neat dreams, I stayed there instead of seeing the bands compete.

Probably just as well as it got a little chilly this evening and I'm not sure if I'm fond of cold weather just yet.....give me a few years on that.

Grandma Connelly is fun to be around, she lets me do stuff that mom and dad don't.....well maybe. Okay, I'll retract that statement for now or at least plead the 5th Amendment for the time being, I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea or anything.

I watched a little television and thought that doctor guy on House was pretty cool, but that other show called K'ville wasn't very good at all, so I decided to go to sleep.

Sometime around 11 mom and dad showed back up. They looked happy to see me which was great because I'm always happy to see them! But then they packed me back up in my car seat which I don't always like, but I suppose it's necessary.

We got back in the car and sometime later were back home. I slept the entire trip so I missed all the sights and now since it's even later, I think I'll head back to Dreamland to chase some more rabbits!

My first band competition (Part 1)

It was a beautiful Saturday weather-wise and mom & dad were planning a long day of adventures for me. Daddy started out by letting mommy sleep in Saturday morning, but then they packed me up and drove me to my first marching band practice.

The Showband Of The Carolinas (my favorite band of course!) was about to start their competition season Saturday at the Albemarle Showcase of Bands. So we went to help with that. I heard daddy saying something about maybe having me play the concert band drum in the pit......I'm ready daddy, I am, put me in....I can play!!!!

Okay, I might have some issues holding on to the bass drum mallet, so maybe next time.

Better yet, afterwards I got to meet a bunch of the band members which was really cool! They're all so big and they can really play their instruments, one day I hope to be just like them.

But what most people don't know was afterwards, I had to have my diaper changed, so mommy and daddy (with my "Uncle Dustin's" help) plopped me down next to the 45-yard line and changed me right there.

So, in about 15 years when I'm in the High School Band, we'll remember this moment fondly or embarrassingly, one of the two, I'm not sure which it'll be at this point.

The band got packed up and started out to Albemarle while I came back home for a quick bite to eat and some rest.

I'll let you know what happened in the evening in Part 2
