Lake Tillery

Right after lunch today, daddy took me upstairs for a bath.....usually bath time is at night, so something was up. Turns out, right after bath time, we loaded up the car and drove out to the lake to see Grandma and Papa!

I should've slept most of the way there, but decided not to - much to the chagrin of mommy and daddy. After we got to the cabin, Papa took us out on the boat, well after he got the engine started.

I offered my help as much as I could and since I've not studied engine repair yet, the limits of my help is saying, "uh oh" when the engine wouldn't turn over. But finally it did and we pulled out into the lake and went cruising.

Mommy tells me I've been out there before, but I couldn't remember that. This time was fun with the water spraying on us at times. But the rain came by and before we could get back to land, we got soaked! Mommy bundled me up in coats and towels, but it was still wet.

When we finally got back to the dock, they took me over to see the Hamilton girls - Emery's a month older than me - and we stood around talking with them for a while. They seem like nice folk.

Later, after dinner, we went back and I got to play with the 4 Hamilton sisters a bit. There was a doggie nearby and that was sort of interesting too.

Finally, I wrapped up my long day by fiddling with the knobs on the receiver under Papa's television and suddenly is turned on loud as all get out and scared at least a month off my life!

Thankfully the ride home was uneventful as I slept pretty much the entire way.

Snow wow

We've had quite an out of ordinary day this first day of March. First off, I'm still feeling a wee bit sick this weekend. Haven't been my energetic self at all, but sometimes later in the day I start feeling better.

This afternoon was a rough one for me though. I didn't really take a nap and started not feeling well, so I cried and screamed, and screeched and cried most of the afternoon. Mommy and Daddy finally calmed me down with a bath and though maybe I had some gas in my tummy or something.

Whatever it was, it started to go away and I started feeling better and hungry!

Oh and all weekend long it has just rained and rained, which is good Daddy said because we needed the rain to help end our drought. But it was just a gray drabby weekend and then early this evening, that rain turned to what Mommy and Daddy called snow!

They took my over to the back door and turned on the light and I saw all these globs of white stuff just falling everywhere, and everything on the ground was just coated in it! All I could say was, "wow!" over and over.

Daddy went outside and scooped some of it up and threw it at the window, I thought that was a little funny, but then he brought some of it inside and I wasn't sure what to do about it. I touched it, but it was really cold and wet...I don't want any part of that whatsoever!

From the sound of it, Mommy doesn't have school tomorrow, so I bet I won't either.

Busy Mother's Day

What a busy day, we even had tornado warnings, oh my!

Mommy got back home very, very early this morning (so I heard, I was asleep) from taking her band to 6 Flags in Georgia. She said the band played very well and had a good time down there. But I missed her and I'm happy to have her back.

This afternoon we headed over to NoDa to get our pictures taken. The Light Factory was running their Shoot Out fundraiser this weekend and we had our session today. Our photographer, Susan Scott, was really neat, but I gotta say all those lights and flashes really discombobulated me.

But we had a lot of fun with all the different pictures. Susan did a great job with us and took a ton of pictures. I bet mommy and daddy will buy every one twice over (aren't I worth it?)!

Oh the rain though, it poured on our way to the Shoot Out and on our way back home. Then we went back out for dinner and it rained again but with tornado warnings tossed in.

But let me tell you about dinner. Mommy put a blanket into my car seat to keep my tootsies warm and later daddy flipped the blanket over my head and when I pulled it off, I grinned wide as a canyon.

Mommy flipped the blanket back up and said "Where's Elliott?"...I waited a few seconds and pulled it off with an even bigger grin. Then she flipped the blanket up again and I did the same thing. Everyone was laughing, I learned the game and it's so much fun!!

Then guess what? It rained a bunch more on the way home.

Next up: crawling, keeping checking back for progress.

Milestones: Snow and Rolling Over

Six days shy of my 5-month birthday I got to see my first snow! And boy was it cold too. Mommy said no 2 snowflakes are alike, but all I saw was white on everything, then mushy stuff on everything and then just plain chilly rain.

So that's snow, eh? I could do without, but it was something new so a big "yay!" for me I guess.

Mommy was more excited yesterday because of the thing I started doing with Grandma Connelly at Gymboree. I flipped over from my front to back.

After I did that at Gymboree people started clapping and that felt pretty good inside, so I figure I'll have to do it again. When mommy got home Grandma put me on my tummy and asked me to do it again.

But first I impressed mommy by holding my head up high and strong, how 'bout that, eh?

Then I remembered the clapping thing so I rolled over and mommy got all kinds of excited, so we did it again and then once more just to show it wasn't a trick or anything.

Mommy says it won't be long now before I start crawling.....whatever that is I hope it doesn't involve any of that snow stuff.
